TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE - VEHICLE REPAIRS -
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
All work includes a warranty on new parts.
Parts used are generally middle range parts with the exception of critical mechanical parts such as timing belts/clutches etc which require significantly more labour. We will ALWAYS use OE Quality parts where possible for such things.
Timing Belt kits - Genuine/INA/Dayco/Gates
Clutches/Flywheel - LUK/Sachs/Exedy/Valeo
Brakes - Pagid/Bendix/Delphi/ATE/Brembo
Filters - Mann/Hengst/Bosch/Mahle
Oils - Drivetec/Comma/Quantum (dependent on price and availability at the time)
This is to keep costs down as we are not into ripping people off.
Should you want higher spec parts than we price for, feel free to say and we can adjust the price accordingly. Alternatively, we are always open to negotiation and will fit parts you provide yourself, though we categorically offer NO warranty on customer supplied parts.
We endeavour to obtain parts from local suppliers only where possible, as this reduces complications if they are incorrect, however, in various instances, particularly where jobs are booked in advance of their need, we may use Autodoc as the prices are much fairer, which in turn passes savings on to you, at the current time Autodoc have a delivery lead time of around 10-15 working days which must be considered. This can be discussed before you agree on a price.
Any fitting of parts by SRS is taken at your own risk and we acknowledge no responsibility should anything fail with the exception of the specific part replaced if it is under supplier warranty, in which case we will remove it for return to the supplier and refit a supplier part should it be replaced under warranty. Any parts found to be faulty or damaged due to misuse/abuse/neglect etc will be chargeable to you.
Also, please note: Important. As stated above regarding warranty returns, the following applies:-

SRS will only remove faulty parts at our own expense if they are supplied by us or it is a result of an error on our part. If you supply your own parts there will be another labour charge to be agreed before we remove them in the case of labour intensive items such as clutches or timing belts, and that will be all. Any returns etc will be left to you as you supplied the part.

SRS will also not take any responsibility if you provide the incorrect part. If your car is rendered un-usable as a result, in an event where old parts should not be refitted, such as, but not limited to, clutches and timing belts. Though we will make every effort to check the parts compatibility before commencing any work on your vehicle.

In the event we provide the wrong part, we will endeavour to sort it there and then, if possible, within the cost margins of the job** Though this is a risk you are taking by asking SRS to do the work, to be clear by example, we will not cover the cost in the event of more parts being needed during a repair that was otherwise unknown. Such as finding a flywheel damaged while changing a clutch or finding a brake calliper seized during a pad change.
The options in such an event would be,

You pay for a flywheel, and we fit it on the day at no extra cost except for the parts.

We put the new parts on the old flywheel which will likely void any and all warranty and would incur another labour charge to fit a flywheel later.

You leave the car "as it stands" until you can pay for/supply a flywheel. We will reassemble it with the required parts at no extra cost to the initial job except for the parts and return travel where applicable.

Should something result in the inability to complete the job on the day, we will revise any labour charges and parts for you at your request and make all efforts to return your car to the condition it started in.
By asking SRS to fit the parts listed above, you agree to the above by default, and if it is not acceptable, then you need to take your car elsewhere.
All prices are subject to negotiation, we maintain we are not in this to rip people off and are approachable if your on a specific budget.
Unfortunately, unless agreed prior, all money payable is required upon completion of the work before the keys are returned. We have been ripped off for it several times, and as much as we do this to help people keep older cars going where it’s not cost-effective to take them to a mainstream garage, we are not a charity and have our own bills to pay.
In the event that we travel to do a job at the customer's location and, for whatever circumstance is not in our control, cannot complete the job, labour fees will obviously be cancelled, but any fuel or travel charges must still be paid. Such instances include a customer not being present when we arrive, customer-supplied parts being incorrect, a customer forgetting we were coming and can no longer commit, etc.
Please also note:- Any booked jobs that are cancelled by the customer within 12 hours of the job scheduled start will incur a £20 Cancellation Fee.
There are exceptions to this, such as the car being involved in an accident, family bereavement, etc.
By asking us to carry out any work at your location this term is agreed to by default unless stated in writing on the Estimate or Invoice.
